The things our dog has to put up with!

Some people say that I treat my dog like a child, well I do! I love him like I would a child (now this is coming from someone who is childless so I can’t say for sure, but I do love him lots). This love, for me, includes dressing him up for special occasions. I am adding photo’s of some of his dress ups from the past.

This lovely shirt was compliments of Becca!!!

Sir got this one for one of our Christmas's up in Montana... He could totally have gotten lost in one of those snow drifts!

Sir all dressed up for my Bling Bling Birthday Bash!

I love Halloween and we take Sir to a doggy day care two days a week. Every year they have a Halloween party. Well they actually have lots of holiday parties, but their Halloween party is this Friday. Sir usually doesn’t go on Fridays, but how could I not take him to a party?!?! So today we did what any responsible parents would do, we went to Petsmart and got him a costume!

So may I present this years Halloween costume…

Sir Dracula!

The Vampire obsession continues!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Help People I Need Something To Read!

One thing that my mom instilled in me as a youngster was a love of books. She use to read to me, and Dalan all the time, and I loved it! I have been a fairly good reader my whole life, and it is something that I love to this day.

This is a picture of the book shelves in one of my apartments, I have down sized since then, but I still love me some books!

I am having a problem right now though… I am stuck. I have been reading a lot of vampire/ supernatural novels which are great, don’t get me wrong, but I need something new. I am looking for help in finding some new and interesting books. Any suggestions?!?!

Instilling my love of reading to my only "child"

I would love to join a book club as well, but am struggling to find one that might be a good fit. Anyone have a club that they love or have heard of that was good? Any suggestions on how to find a good one in SLC?

I don't really want a book club that is reading the Harry Potter books in Thai like this picture shows, but I wanted to add it cause the picture rocks!

Oh and my last thing that has been on my mind lately. How many of you like books and how many like e-readers? I do love to hold a book in my hands, smell the “library loved” smell and be able to throw it anywhere without worry of breaking it. The idea of saving some trees and possibly saving some money would be good to by using an e-reader. Help people!!!

New and effective alarm clock

I am a lover of sleep! I love it so much that I often use the snooze button in the mornings in order to just get a few more moments with my precious sleep! Nathan is one of those weirdo’s who can just wake right up when the alarm goes off and gets going without problem. Well today Nathan schooled me in the art of waking up without the snooze, I am warning you this method might not be for everyone but it was quite effective for me this morning.

I began waking up about 3 am because I started coughing and feeling chest pressure. It wasn’t anything too bad just woke up about every 45 minutes. Well at 6:05 this morning Nathan woke up and decided to use the bathroom before I crawled out of bed. At 6:15 the alarm went off, and I naturally hit the snooze. As I lay in bed I hear Nathan flush, there was a few moments with my eyes closed before it happened. There it was, a HUGE crash and a bunch of things falling. My eyes flew open and I yelled to see if Nathan was ok. There was no response, I yell again as I am heading towards the bathroom. Again no response so I start to open the door. It was sticking on something , Nathan’s legs. I pushed then aside and got into the bathroom where Nathan was laying face down with his head and shoulders lodged between the toilet and tub and things thrown around the bathroom. I continued to yell his name and got no response. I checked and he was breathing but still not responding to me. I pulled his body out for his crazy contortion and yelled and pushed his arm around. It took about 2 minutes before Nathan began to respond. I was so relieved!!!

It was at this point that the love of my life attempted to convince me that he had just fallen asleep and that he just was going to go back to bed. We argued and I won, we put some clothes on and went to the ER.

Nathan got way more than he bargained for with his little early morning stunt… we spend the whole morning, until 11:00 in the ER. He got stickers all over his body, got to pee in a cup and got his first official IV (for those of you who don’t know needles are Nathan’s nemesis and IV’s are even worse).

Nathan made it through with flying colors. In the end he was diagnosed with a worse infection and given new antibiotics, IV fluids antibiotics and pain meds then released with the doctors saying I am not sure what happened this morning but he should be fine. This was a relief but frustrating at the same time.

Now the reason for the title of this blog is while we were in the ER and things were calming down Nathan realized that I got up this morning without having to use the snooze, he is always looking on the bright side of things! I love him and I am so glad that we can both laugh and joke when intense things happen. We work well together! Needless to say this was an effective method of waking up in the morning, but not one that I would like to repeat anytime soon!

Long Days and Good Food

I am an adventurous eater and I love food and to prove this I am adding pictures of food that I have eaten and loved so much I wanted to share.

Yummy Yummy Thai Food!
One of my favorite parts of eating, the desserts!

There is nothing worse in my mind than having an extra long day at work, then having to come home and cook! I am not a big fan of cooking in the first place, but the thought of coming home having to think of what to make, make it and then clean it up sends me into a dark spiral that is hard to get out of. Well, ok that was a little on the dramatic side but I have never said that I wasn’t dramatic!

Soups and noodles are so delish!

Most nights I try and find things that are super quick and easy to make. This tends to be food that is not the best for me though. I am trying to be better to my body and my checking account so I am working on not eating out. This leaves me in a bad position for a girl who doesn’t like to cook. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to make that wouldn’t be too difficult would be nice, yes this is a call out to those of you who are reading me, you are my only hope (that was for Nathan).

Sushi, Oh how I love you Sushi! I totally crave this all the time.
Good old burger and fries Nathan's favorite

I am trying the crock pot thing for tomorrow and will let you know how that works out, but that does require some prep work from me the night before so I am not sure how often it will happen.

Seafood is a favorite of mine and a dreaded dish of Nathan's
Fruit, it's so sweet it can't be good for me!

Here is to you food, my other other love! (First love being Nathan and second being Sir).

Cake, but not just any cake... our wedding cake was pear flavored and wonderful!

P.S. There were so many pictures that I have of food, me eating and others eating I am surprised that this is one of the first posts I have about food!!! I am sure that there will be plenty more where this came from too.

Yes, it's true, we are Big Slackers!!!!

When Nathan suggested that we start a blog for when we go to Thailand, I was skeptical. If anything I know that I am a slacker and lose interest in things fairly quickly, so I figured that I would stop writing when we got home… guess I was right. Today however I watched the show “Julie and Julia” which I didn’t think that I would see but actually liked, and I am inspired. At least for now. I have a renewed motivation to write on our little blog here and we will see what happens.

I love reading others blogs and I find myself disappointed when I click on their links and there is no new posts, could this become true for our blog?!?! Could others like to read about us? I am never sure, but after watching the movie today I realized that if people read it or not, it is a good practice for me to write things and have a record of our lives as “the Littles”.

So as for today I am going to write just a few things and then catch everyone up on what has been going on with us later.

Nathan is sick… again! I am so surprised by him sometimes. The first 4 years that I knew Nathan he was not sick once, and I mean that. No stomach aches, no head aches, no colds nothing! In the past year Nathan has been SICK. I feel bad, the poor guy is so not use to not feeling well that when he does get sick he doesn’t know what to do. Poor guy, please send him your good thoughts and vibes so that he can get better and stay healthy for a while.

Me, well I am doing ok. I had some flu like symptoms after getting my flu shot this week, but am feeling tons better now! I am working like a champ at my new job and loving it. I have had so much free time that I have gotten lazy, so hopefully with this new motivation for the blog also comes motivation to get other things done as well. One can only hope right!

I am not going to promise that I will blog daily, but it will be more frequent. We will see how this goes!
